Really the only sensible place to run in Cumbria is on the fells!
Kendal AAC has a long established group of fell runners with a wide range of ability. They are a pretty friendly bunch and if you keep turning up at races or on training runs, after a few years they might even talk to you!

Winter Training
Personal safety is a major consideration on winter runs. In the eventuality of a runner being injured or severe weather on the fell we need to be properly equipped. People should only undertake the winter runs if they have clothing appropriate for the weather, a map, compass and fully functioning head torches / footwear and Kahtoola spikes (Pete Bland’s sell them) or similar. Additionally runners should carry “between them” survival bags, a First Aid kit and the like.
