It was a successful county championships for Kendal aac were jack barker ,louis bigland ,and Alfie Todd won the u11 team.
Harry and James Bowen individual gold and silver and along with henry hunter won 1st in u13s. Sarah smith won bronze in the u13 girls .
Under 15 Daniel Sanderson bronze under 17 Rosie Woodhams gold and senior man Alasdair Russell bronze .
There was no rest for the athletes as they continued their winning ways with a 36 strong team taking part in the Mid Lanc’s league at Burnley where conditions although cold and windy were unusually dry.
Under 11 Sophie cowen ran a well judged race working her way through the 79 strong field to finish an impressive5th27 secs behind the winner.
The battle for the winner of the u11 boys went right to the line and although been given the joint time first place was awarded to a triumphant Louis Bigland, the close packing of team mates Jack Barker 7th,Alfie Addison 13 th,Josh Todd 15th followed by brother Alfie put them 2nd team just 2 points off the winning team, 85 youngsters ran.
It was a gutsy run by u 13 Sarah Smith, although the winning athlete was clear with300 mts to go Sarah was in a group of three managed to edge in front the girls made a comeback but Sarah not about to give in and was rewarded with 2nd place .
There was also a battle in the u13 boys race with winner Tobias Swarbrick clocking 10.09 and Harry Bowen just3 secs behind .recovering from injury brother wasn’t far behind 3rd & Henry Hunter 5th
Ben Greenep was 16 th & Oliver Smith 20th. The boys were 1st team 25 points clear of there rivals.
The u15 boys packed well to finish 3rd team lead by Daniel Sanderson 7th a recovering Fraser Sproul 10th Jacob Smith 12th Ollie Sanders 14th Toby Umpleby 17th Ben Smith 21st and Josh Roelants 29th.
After their vet 45 win at Leigh the senior women were3 ladies down due to illness therefor they were delighted to finish 3rd with just 2 points separating them from the 1st team. Jackie nowell lead the way 47th followed by Joanne Pennington 61st & Carolyn Kevan who not only made the vet 45 team but also finished individual 2nd vet 55 .Helen Barker was 66th ,Dianne Priestley 78th and 1st vet 65 ,Sue Booth 86th Hazel Clarke 89th.Carolyn
,Dianne and Sue continued their winning ways 1st vet 55 team.157 ladies ran .
There was yet another fine run in the senior men’s race Alasdair Russell finishing 5th in a field of 235. Quenton Gratrix who was 37th & 7th vet 40 battled with team mate Will Sissons 40th until the final stages .New comer Joe Todd ran stp for step with helm hills Craig Burrow with 1 second separating the two Craig 66th Joe 67,Stuart Mcgurk 153rd headed the 7th place vet 50 team,vet 6o Mike Walsh 163rd, Steve Roberts 170 , vet 50 Pete Gorst 174th and Mark Walker 192nd
Helm Hills Imogen Burrow was not only 3rd under 20 but her race which was combined with the senior women’s finished an impressive 8th
